Elite has just released the 4th generation of its Direto trainer, dubbed the Direto XR.It includes a bit of a price increase from the previous model (+$50USD), but also significantly upgraded … I had initially thought of getting the Wahoo KICKR CORE but I was feeling pretty nervous about all the problems they seem to have and then I read that Wahoo cannot guarantee the power accuracy below 15 degrees! – Suito + power meter in the crank (for eg Stages) – to use it on road too, I’m still hoping that they will come to their senses and release an update if it’s feasible. The Wahoo representative in my region is nearly dead, they have a horrible website with nothing for sale and never respond to any email, so I hope I have a better experience with Elite. I haven’t fully figured out the pattern there, but it wasn’t something I even noticed while riding – only afterwards looking at the charts. The Elite DIRETO XR ensures total compatibility with both road and MTB bicycles making it one of the most compatible trainer on the market. That would be really surprising to me. 1-2″ high riser is like a 3% slope. Is there a proper way of starting a workout? Does it support multiple simultaneous connections to stream data to different devices, as the Kickr does? I have spoken both with Elite and TrainerRoad, there should be some escape route, if the cadence drops below 40rpm the resistance must go to 0 for a couple of seconds until you spin back up. The Elite Direto XR comes with an 11-speed Shimano 105 cassette, so to assemble you merely have to set the stabilizers, slide in the thru-axle adapters, attach the bike and plug in the trainer. That’s handy if you’re connecting to Zwift on an Apple TV, due to Apple TV’s two concurrent Bluetooth Smart sensor limitation (plus the Apple TV remote). All it does is stop sweat for getting places it shouldn't (it also helps with vibrations too). In the case of the above workout, it was after doing 90 mins of relatively hard riding. A change from 1 to 2% grade seems a lot higher than it should be but the trainer is usable now. Is it possible to put a 148mm boost frame on this trainer? I haven’t tried yet.
